Magazine Specifications

For the quickest turn around and least hassle, it is important that you supply your artwork to these specifications. If your artwork differs from as listed below, there will be a delay in printing and possibly additional charges through artwork amends. Where we try our best to accommodate all artwork supplied, QuoteMePrint cannot take responsibility for print errors or delays which may follow incorrect artwork submission.

Artwork Origination

Pages should be produced with design packages such as Corel Draw, Quark Express or InDesign either on PC or Apple Mac. Please note we can not accept PDF files that have been created in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher or Page Maker as the PDF files created from these software packages are not acceptable for printing.

Please ensure that all pages have page numbers and that these match the file name number (not including front and back). Images should be produced with a package such as photoshop, ensuring that the colour option is set to CMYK (not RGB). Pages should be saved in the colour format that you want them to be printed in. This improves quality and will reduce the chance of us charging you for unnecessarily printing pages in colour.

Once complete, pages should be saved as PDF format using Acrobat Distiller or similar. Each page should be saved as an individual file.

Set Up

All files need to be supplied, including bleeds; your printed magazines will be provided at the finished sizes, as per your order. All artwork needs to be centered in the PDF document. It is important that no excess artwork is supplied with your print ready PDFs.

Sizes

A5: 210mm x 148mm (without bleed) | 216mm x 154mm (with bleed)

A4: 297mm x 210mm (without bleed) | 303mm x 216mm (with bleed)

Bleed

All magazine artwork must be provided with a 3mm bleed on all sides (as listed above). It is recommended that all text and prominent images should be placed within 5mm of your crop marks - this is to ensure that no important detail is lost during the trimming process (which is accurate to the nearest 1.5mm).

Resolution

All non-vector artwork should be supplied at a minimum of 300dpi. This is very important as any lower resolution will result in your printed artwork being blurry and distorted. When saving artwork to PDF, you should save your artwork as follows;

Overall resolution: 2540dpi
Individual line art resolution: 1200dpi
Individual bitmap resolution: 300dpi

This can be achieved through using Acrobat Distiller.
